What is Verneuil sapphire?
Developed in late 1883 by the French chemist Auguste Verneuil, this kind of sapphire has amazing clarity, colour and the same chemical composition to that of an Earth-mined sapphire but without the hefty labour or price tag. Verneuil sapphires can range from light cornflower blue colour to the darker richer royal blues, so when you place your order please let us know if you have a preference between light, mid or dark blue. Unless otherwise stated, the stone supplied will be like the one shown in the photo - a mid-blue Verneuil sapphire.
